What is Personhood?

The Personhood movement idea is that life starts at conception. These activists want to have it amended that this is when life starts.
There have been rallies in many of the states for and against but recently Mississippi held a vote over whether or not to make it an amendment. The movement was defeated 59-41.

What is the problem?

If a pro-personhood amendment were to be allowed, it would give unborn infants the same rights as any living child and make any attempts to stop the pregnancy illegal. This could potentially ban not only abortions, but things like birth control and the morning after pill.

Roe v Wade

There is also the fact that Roe v. Wade would have to be amended or this would not be able to fly at all. See Roe v. Wade lays out guidelines for all the states to follow when dealing with abortion. The state governments can't really ban an abortion from happening until at least the third trimester of a pregnancy. They can regulate the procedure at the second trimester.
